Connect HDMI to Xbox and DisplayPort to laptop?

I had the idea to connect the Xbox to my monitor with an HDMI cable. But since I want to switch between the Xbox screen and laptop screen on the monitor, I wanted to connect a DisplayPort cable to the monitor and laptop so that I don't always have to swap the Xbox's HDMI with the laptop's cable. Is that possible?

If your laptop has a display port or if you have a hadmin to display port cable, you can sometimes even set the monitor to split it up or to weigh between the two signals depending on what your monitor can do
