This morning someone from the USA (he works as a pilot, he said) contacted me and wanted to buy my Xbox on ebay classified ad for 200 euro and transferred the money to me via scotiabank. Then he said I should send the console to his cousin in Mönchengladbach because his birthday is coming up. The question is can I trust him because he sent the money through Scotiabank and Scotiabank is about fraud and trouble sometimes.
Come on, EVERYTHING sucks.
Ebay classifieds = pick up. And your story is so wild that I can't understand how you can even doubt that it's cheating.
It's a fraud and it's called the Nigeria Connection; the bank doesn't exist.
These are fake emails from a fake bank.
According to my suspicion, there are probably no problems with the bank but more with dubious sellers.
The Scotiabank itself is certainly trustworthy, but the e-mail you probably received certainly did not come from this bank, but was forged by the supposed buyer.
Yes, there's a bank:

Only the e-mails are very likely fake and do not come from this bank. It is precisely the trick of fraudsters to use the name of a reputable bank to create the impression that the payment has already been made.
But I haven't checked my account myself yet. I'm not sure if the money has already been transferred, but it can take up to 24 hours
Under no circumstances should you send anything before you have actually received the payment in your account.
I doubt you will ever get that payment though. The story is just too typical for the usual scams.
Hands off, this is the very typical scam, breaking off contact immediately and not being chased into the box horn. If there are any threats, report them to the police immediately. Or wait until it is on your bank statement, do not send anything away beforehand. Greeting
