For my Series X I bought the monitor mentioned above. Unfortunately, the games look way too bright with active HDR10 mode.

There's a kind of test image mode on the Xbox to set the monitor or TV accordingly.
To do this, go to the settings. Under General you will find TV and display settings. Calibrate the option HDR for gaming in the lower middle.

Otherwise, as a rule of thumb for HDR, set the background lighting and the contrast to maximum, or rather too much than too little. The brightness is not too high for this, but it is a matter of adaptation and varies fundamentally depending on the screen.
In addition, you set individual options such as luminosity or paper white yourself in each HDR-capable game.
