Hello and happy new first time dear ones,
I would like to upgrade my entire TV / gaming experience.
About my things that I already have…
I have a 43 inch Samsung TV that supports 4k UHD and is a Smart TV, my game console is an Xbox One but will soon be replaced by the new Xbox One X, which provides 4k gaming, that's why I already bought the 4k TV.
I recently thought about connecting a surround system to the television, but then realized that you can't connect it without an AV receiver.
I did a little research and picked out a Denon AV Receiver that supports 4k and can sort of manage something, but what I now face is…
The AV receiver is probably connected to the television via HDMI cable and then all the devices I have on the AV receiver or is that wrong?
I want to buy a surround system that I can stand around my couch so that the sound comes from every corner, can I do it that way?
And what is not quite clear to me yet, what is the point of excluding the Xbox from such an AV receiver?
I mean I can just put the Xbox in the TV or what is different?
And a question, what exactly does the AV receiver bring, or have I really understood everything that the AV receiver brings me?
I would be happy if I got help and answers from someone gifted in technology.
Yes the AV receiver has to have the sound from somewhere so you have to connect an XBOX or other device to it.
Of course you can also use the ARC (Audio Return Channel) then you can still connect directly to the TV and the TV then forwards to the AVR via HDMI.
An AVR has more amplifier power than a 0815 sound system that you just need for proper speakers.
So that means if I buy a surround system, do I have to connect it to the AVR?
You need something for that, right?
A surround system usually includes everything, i.e. Amplifiers, speakers and usually a subwoofer.
With an AVR you have a 5.1 (or more) amplifier, depending on the equipment, but you still need the speakers and possibly a subwoofer
