If you mean the version optimized for X / S, it doesn't matter.
It's just a graphics update. After all, PC, PS, PSpro, One and One X also play together. The New Gen versions don't cause any problems.

No, that's not unfair.
The new consoles are not really much better performing. Because COD has always been running in the MP with 60 FPS. The new consoles do not change that.
A higher frame rate or resolution does not have a big playful advantage.
Take a look at PCs. Everyone plays against each other with different attitudes and that is neither unfair nor complains about it.
On PC, I only play Final Fantasy 14, but such things are relatively irrelevant because you don't play against each other but with each other (here, too, players with weak hardware sometimes make it unnecessarily difficult)
