When does Amazon debit money for pre-orders if direct debit is selected?

I would like to pre-order the new Xbox on Amazon. I'm now wondering whether the money will be debited directly after the order or only when the item has been shipped? I find different answers on the internet.

As soon as the item has been shipped, the direct debit is accepted and the money will be debited 1 - 2 bank days later.
