Xbox controller does not want to update?

I wanted to play my Xbox today and chat with some friends, so I plugged in my headset. But then the Xbox said I needed an update for my controller, so I did it, but when it was done the Xbox said I did not need an update since it was already installed, now I can't use my microphone anymore as it always says so It needs an update but I can't do it then. If someone could help, I would be very grateful.

Step 1: Take the battery out

Step 2: Put it back in

Step 3: Throw your XBox out of the window and buy a PS4

Conclusion: Never again problems with the XBox
