Is the Xbox Series S Future Proof?

I wanted to get an Xbox Series X or S. The S works pretty well to me because it is cheaper and it suits me that it is so small. Here comes my (maybe stupid) question: The current gen consoles currently have the problem with games like Cyberpunk that they are quite lagging and do not work properly at all. Could it be that the same thing will happen to the S in a few years' time or am I just too worried about it😅.

The Xbox is very future proof. You can use the Xbox One S / X alone for years!

Since the games are then optimized for the console, that will be safe for the future since the technology can compete with the X with a 1000 euro PC

Mo

Future proof enough. Plus for 300 euro. The X would be much more future-proof, the 200 euro more would be worth it.

Both have the same processor, which was the major weak point in the previous generation. The performance bottleneck will therefore come more from the graphics side. If you're satisfied with FullHD, I don't think you have to worry about that for the next few years.

Pa

What does the next few years mean? Would you "hold out" until the next gen?

Mo

The console has to hold out that long. It is difficult to say whether the result is satisfactory, as nobody knows how demanding games will be in 5 years' time.

Well, the Series S is a feast for the eyes, 2K (1440p) or upscaled 4K - yes, it has 4K, but not native, which is hardly noticeable, very fluid gameplay (Forza Horizon 4, really fluid with "4K" set) and you is also extremely quiet. I have now had it in continuous operation for 10 hours, and apart from the typical teething problems, which you always have with new consoles, it is still very quiet, but my One X can always be heard groaning. Only the actual 340GB memory is a downer, but hey, guess who's going to spit a freshly bought extension card into the Series S next month? 😂 I can tell you: the Series S is recommended as an interim solution. I personally still get the Series X, then I take the S to work. I'm also thinking of buying a second Series S, which I could always take to friends, then I wouldn't have to lug around the Series X all the time… After all, over 300 euro per month is always enough for my salary to buy me every nonsense imaginable…

But then I would need a new monitor to take with me…

I have it: 2 extension cards, a Series S, a Series X, 2 4K monitors and a portable 4K monitor.

Total costs: extrapolated almost 2000 euro…

So save almost 7 months…

I get there easily 🙃

Oh yes, on your topic again: you can buy it, it is worth it.

You worry too much about that. The Xbox Series S counts thanks to all of its AMD exclusive technologies that enable power to be used as efficiently as possible. For example, with the Xbox exclusive VRS technology, 15% more power can be achieved than without VRS.

Xbox Series S: future proof

Playstation 5: more future-proof

Xbox Series X: Most Future Proof

Edit:

It could even be that the Xbox Series S is more future-proof than the Playstation 5. Not in terms of performance, but the support and longevity of the general console.

The Playstation 5, for example, is determined like its predecessor to an airplane after a while. This can happen with the Series S auxh, but not to such an extent, especially since the Xbox Series S has a much more open and better cooling than the Playstation 5
