Moin you love
I bought the Xbox Series X and since I had an outdated TV I got the LGCX65.
I'm incredibly satisfied with both, now I came up with the idea to connect the whole thing with my system.
I have a Pioneer VSX-417 and I want to use the Canton CD 10 as the 4 surround sound boxes and the Canton CD 20 box as the center.
I have already attached this and wired it with an OFC cable. I would like to use the Canton Movie CX 60 as a subwoofer.
I "only" connected this via the mono channel because there's a broken pin in the second connection (no idea why) but it should work that way.
My Series X does not have an optical output.
Do I need a special adapter or can I use the optical output from my LG CX and go straight to the VSX?
What about Dolby Atmos? Is it enough that my Series X outputs it, so to speak, or do I need newer hardware to get it onto the boxes?
I'm not an expert but yes it is enough to lead the sound over Toslink from the TV to the system.
But as far as I know, Dolby Atmos doesn't go through Toslink. If your system supports it at all, the ARC HDMI input of your TV can also be used to lead sound to the system.
With both variants, of course, you have to allow sound transmission via HDMI on the console and set the desired sound format.
As soon as you play then switch the sound on the TV to the appropriate source.
Thank you, that with Atmos I unfortunately thought…
would it work if I put an HDMI splitter between the plug?
Say use the eARC on the TV as an output, go into a converter and then with Toslink to the VSX?
Or does it matter how you turn it, I can't get Atmos via Toslink? My Pioneer VSX has no HDMI or USB port unfortunately…
how do I get the best out of attitudes then?
As I said, I'm not a specialist but Dolby Atmos simply does not go through Toslink.
A splinter, if there's one at all, would be of no use.
So all that remains is to tap the sound on the TV via Toslink and then set the sound to 5.1 in the console settings.
If your receiver would support Dolby Atmos, it would have to be on the one hand and it would have HDMI on the other.
Okay as far as I understand.
One question remains open to me.
when I plug my Series X into the TV via HDMI, I then use a 2 HDMI port (eARC) and go from there to the receiver.
so then 2 HDMI's are used.
does the TV then reproduce the picture via one and the sound via the other (eARC) yes?
so both are active at the same time
That's exactly how it is intended.
The Audio Return Chanel is used to pick up the sound. The TV loops through the audio signal from the console and sends it back via the ARC.
Alternatively, you can pick up the sound via Toslink.
