Internet speed Wi-Fi stick / Wi-Fi card?

I have a Wi-Fi stick (FRITZ! WLAN Stick N) and it guarantees up to 300 Mbit. We have a 50,000 DSL contract (I think), but the stick can only handle 1 Mbit upload and download. My Xbox manages 20-30 Mbits when it's going well and my mobile phone just as much. What is the problem and is the problem solved with a 2 antenna Wi-Fi stick?

If you need more information, feel free to write

Ja

WLAN consists not only of the stick, but also of the remote station, including walls and other sources of interference. Does the rate change when you change location?

Li

Unfortunately I can't tell you because I can't just put my PC down somewhere. I can only say that the XBox is on the ground floor, the router on the 1st floor and the PC in the attic. My PC is just above the router, just like the Xbox is below the router.

Check times the recommendations from the manufacturer AVM.

I tap on driver software that is too old, so update the driver software.

Pay close attention to the hardware version, there are different WLAN sticks, with / without the addition "V2". Here are all the drivers:

Thank you, I'll try! I will then share my experience right away.

Ha

Is it done as described in the manual on pages 8-10?

Do you have a Fritzbox?

Li

Yes, I have the Fritzbox 7390 and the manual said simply connect the stick, install the integrated driver and then everything would be done

Li

So now I tried the driver download and no change in the problem. I will run the OS update on the router tomorrow morning, but don't think that the problem will change because all other devices also have around 20 Mbits or even more

Jo

Here are more drivers for the stick. If you don't have the V2 stick, then these instructions and this download here are more suitable: https://avm.de/...erbindung/

Jo

The stick should have a free "field of view" in the direction of the router. So do not position the stick in the shadow behind the PC case.
Use a max. 2m long USB extension, then you can position it better, the stick then has better Wi-Fi reception.

However, 2 Mbit / s seems to me to be very little, there must be another problem. Maybe delete the WLAN profile in Windows, you do that with the button "Do not save" in the properties of your connected WLAN. I explained it here

Li

Oh it seems there's no downloadable driver for Win 10 for the V1 Stick

Li

The stick has as clear a field of vision as possible. Use the supplied USB cable

Li

Could it be that the problem is the stick because the stick is designed / compatible up to Win 8.1? So it means: buy a new one that is designed for Win10

Li

So sorry again. The original packaging says Win10 compatible, but doesn't get the latest driver? The current driver is only available on GIGA and AVM up to Win8.1

Jo

Maybe you can install the BETA driver. AVM has written extra instructions. Unfortunately, I can't tell you whether this will also work for Win10.
