I have had problems with our internet for a long time. Now I finally called the support and they sent me a technician due to my low internet speed (0.5mbit / s in download). Then it worked again for a few hours and now nothing works again. I have internet speeds of 0.5mbit / s in download and 10mbit / s in upload. Usually it is 20mbit / s in the download and 30mbit / s in the upload. I then talked to the service again and he said I should replace the DSL cable. I did that now and now reach normal speeds again. But only on cell phones, PS4s, and TVs. On my PC, which I connected to the internet via WLAN stick, the internet speed is still slow. The stick was bought after the WLAN card stopped working on November 29, 2019 and has worked perfectly until today. Today I switched on the PC and the internet was extremely slow. What can I do besides buying a new stick?
Possibly reinstall drivers
Buy a cable that you plug into the PC.
You should have noticed by now that Wi-Fi is simply unreliable.
So get yourself a LAN cable and you'll have higher speeds and greater stability.
If you have no additional connections free, buy a Lan switch + cable. Overall, this shouldn't cost more than another Wi-Fi stick that will also make trouble again. And even if it's just a lousy download speed. With up to 30 Mbit measured upstream your download should be 50 or 100 Mbit not 20.
I know that a LAN cable would be helpful. However, this is not possible. Either I would have to be 30m long and run through my brother's office, kitchen, hallway, my brother's room or 20m long and from the office, dining room, window out of my room then back in the window. So that's very difficult. I've heard of Power-LAN but don't know what it is.
I'll do it
30 meter long cables are not a problem, they are even ready to buy. If you don't live in a rented apartment, you can also lay it through the walls (drill).
It seems that your DSL connection does not produce more than 30 Mbit / s.
So you will not get more Internet speed than this at about 30 Mbit / s for any device, not even via a LAN cable.
What is strange, of course, is that the cell phone, PS4, and TV (in the same room?) Still work reasonably well in WLAN, but your PC can't do it with its WLAN stick. So the technician from the internet provider can't change anything at all. It is your PC and your WLAN stick.
If you also want to achieve the approx. 30 Mbit / s on the PC, you have to ensure better Wi-Fi reception conditions on the PC:
Suggestions and possibilities:
Better Wi-Fi stick with good Wi-Fi antennas.
Possibly. Simply enough to use a (max. 2 meter long) USB extension cable. Because the stick must have good WLAN reception, it must never be positioned between PC housings or other metallic surfaces (radiators, metal shelves, metal doors, …). The Wi-Fi radio goes straight towards the router and must pass through all obstacles that lie along this path (conceivable, like an invisible light beam, Wi-Fi never goes around the corner). With a USB extension you can position your WLAN stick much better (higher) because of the obstacles on the way to the router.
Bluetooth activated on the PC? This is often very bad for the WLAN. Because Bluetooth and WLAN both work at 2.4 GHz and interfere with each other. Deactivate Bluetooth on the PC (also turn off Bluetooth on other devices in your room) and then test (Speetest).
You are talking about several rooms between the router and your room. In this case, a Wi-Fi repeater (as an intermediate station) would be installed in one of the rooms in between. It receives the WLAN from the router and sends it on with full 100% signal strength. The Fritz Repeater 1750e or its successor 2400 is quite decent.
PS:
With the free "Fritz App WLAN" Android app you can find out whether you can get better Wi-Fi anywhere in the room. Here I mean this app: https://avm.de/...zapp-wlan/
We contractually have up to 100mbit / s. Up until yesterday I always had 20-30mbit / s. Today it's unfortunately only 1mbit / s. I think the stick is broken, which amazes me, since I've only had it for half a year and have never unplugged it since. Since yesterday it just doesn't work as it should
My mother has something against that
Stick broken? No, I don't think it's broken.
With electronics, it is very, very rare that something just breaks a bit, but either completely broken (nothing works) or it works (then it is ok). Your stick works.
Yes, I also had a WLAN card. I always received 5mbit / s and very rarely 22 out of 25mbit / s possible at that time by restarting the PC even though I didn't touch anything
I've already made some suggestions for you, so give them a try.
Here are more suggestions from me:
Delete the profile for your Wi-Fi in Windows and connect to the Wi-Fi freshly (you need the Wi-Fi key, because you know that).
So: open the properties of your Wi-Fi network and press the "do not save" button. Then freshly connect to your Wi-Fi (remember, Wi-Fi key is required, hopefully you will have one). Very important! You absolutely have to press the "do not save" button in Windows 10 so that Windows really deletes the WLAN profile completely!
Explained here (see below on this website): https://praxistipps.chip.de/...ehts_11851
Do you still have Windows 7?
Then here please. There are 2 ways how to do that, step by step:

I can no longer connect because I uninstalled the stick. I reinstalled the drivers but it doesn't work.
Then shut down and restart the PC, it will then recognize your WLAN stick freshly and search for the necessary drivers independently, it may use standard drivers.
If this does not work, call the device manager and select "Search for new hardware now…" in the device manager menu.
If that doesn't work either. Simply remove the WLAN stick and then plug it in again… Windows will report… "New hardware will be set up…".
If that doesn't work, simply insert the WLAN stick into another USB slot, … Windows will report… "New hardware will be set up…".
My recommendation is: Download the correct driver from the manufacturer's website and install it.
It works again even though I haven't done anything.
Nevertheless, MANY MANY Thanks for taking the time on Saturday evening to help people who have problems and have no idea how to solve them.
How do you figure that the line doesn't give more than 30 Mbit? All the time he had only spoken of the speed on his PC with a Wi-Fi stick.
And the 30 Mbit were upload no download so it is obvious with the current contracts that there's a line that can do much more in the download.
Unfortunately, you do not write what kind of WLAN stick you use (or I have not seen).
However, with the last cumulative Windows 10 Update 2020-04 there are many problems with WLAN, so I would recommend you to uninstall this dirty update if you have installed it: https://windowsarea.de/2019/09/anleitung-windows-update-deinstallieren-in-windows-10/
Otherwise, remove the WLAN stick, restart Windows and plug the WLAN stick into another port, preferably USB 3.0, of course.
What surprises me, however, is that you receive Wi-Fi at all times. If 20 or 30 m of LAN cable would be necessary, then the Wi-Fi router is endlessly far away from you. How can you receive 30 Mbit / s there?
Stand with your cell phone near your WLAN router and do a speed test on fast.com and then another on speedof.me and then another on wieistmeineip.de
What values in the download and upload do you get? That would have to be 100 megabits per second in the download and 40 megabits per second in the upload on a Telekom DSL connection in your case.
And don't forget, if your brother is playing FIFA and maybe your parents are also streaming, then there won't be much traffic bandwidth left for you.
Because he never gets more than 30 Mbit / s anywhere in the house.
I presume that he did the speed test with fluctuating speeds via WLAN, at least with a smartphone directly on the router, or with a LAN cable. Also that a technician from the internet provider came out says that the DSL line is very weak (typical problem of the last mile!).
He also speaks of his brother who has 30 Mbit / s, since not all computers are equipped with wobbly WLAN.
A distinction between upload and download played no role in the investigation of the local poor WLAN on a PC, both directions are always the same or equally good, because the radio link is the same in both directions.
It is a big guessing game anyway, because the information is incomplete and it seems to me that the questioner himself has lost track of things. "… I didn't do anything and it works again…", well, if you uninstalled the WLAN drivers and then didn't install them again or installed them and called it "nothing", you have to ask here.
Everything is apparently good again, the reason will not be found out!
The construction of the apartment (120m²) does not allow a LAN cable to be laid. My mother doesn't want a cable in the kitchen, hallway, etc. There's a wall and 5m between my PC and the Wi-Fi router. My model is the TP-Link AC1300
I did not uninstall the drivers but the device (TP-Link 1300). In addition, the download speed is often identical to the upload speed. Now I have the same problem again. And as you said, I have little idea in this area.
I now reach 20mbit / s in download and 8mbit / s in upload.
Sorry, everything is quite misleading.
In your question and description you always write something about the old WLAN card and the WLAN stick, and nothing about your Powerline (TP-Link 1300).
So no one suspected the cause of the Powerline here, either
The Powerline (TP-Link 1300) is a self-contained system. It is a technology that allows the router to be connected via LAN. Power line to another place in your house. Finished!
This has nothing to do with WLAN.
The PC can only use 1 technology for the Internet connection. So either the PC is wired with a LAN cable to a LAN port of the Powerline Adapter (TP-Link 1300).
OR
Your PC connects to the WLAN stick that is plugged into the PC.
------ BUT he will never use both at the same time! -----
Please use only one of the two techniques on the PC (Powerline or WLAN).
If it should be Powerline, then find the electrical device that is interfering with the Powerline connection. Power supplies, chargers, lamps, … And much more.
