Microsoft bought Bethesda for $ 7.5 billion!

Microsoft to buy Bethesda

Yes, you read that right, Microsoft has officially bought the developer studio of popular games like Skyrim, Wolfenstein and DOOM.

Conversely, this means that in future all new Bethesda titles will appear exclusively or time-exclusively for the Xbox. Playstation & Nintendo consoles will therefore unfortunately continue without the Bethesda rail in the future. It's also another big blow to Sony's Exclusive Title.

How do you feel about it - are you more positive or negative about the whole thing?

Lo

Conversely, this means that in future all new Bethesda titles will appear exclusively or time-exclusively for the Xbox.

Where did you get this info from?

And vice versa? The ending is pretty nonsensical.

St

I was just about to write, but we haven't talked about that yet, either from MS or Bethesda

ma

We'll see. After Fallout 76, I don't expect much more anyway… Can only get better for now.

Ja

Why should it make no sense to have an advantage over competitor Sony?

According to the report: https://www.heise.de/...07190.html

Only guesswork:

After the takeover by Microsoft, it is conceivable that titles from these companies will in future appear exclusively for Microsoft's Xbox game console and Windows PCs. Microsoft has not yet confirmed such plans.

Lo

The conclusion is just nonsense.

The article says:

After the takeover by Microsoft, it is conceivable that titles from these companies will in future appear exclusively for Microsoft's Xbox game console and Windows PCs. Microsoft has not yet confirmed such plans.

So pure speculation

😄Good afternoon AldoradoXYZ,

my information is derived from existing information and private sources.

Ir

Microsoft not only bought Bethesda, but also the parent company ZeniMax Media. And with it everything that goes with it. Bethesda is not just a studio, but a publisher for various studios: Bethesda Game Studios (Fallout, Elder Scrolls), Arkane (Dishonored, Prey), id Software (Doom), Machine Games (Wolfenstein) and others.

So all studios, all brands, everything that goes with them.

Conversely, this means that in future all new Bethesda titles will appear exclusively or time-exclusively for the Xbox.

As far as I know it is not yet certain Apart from the fact that Microsoft no longer publishes pure Xbox exclusives (everything appears at the same time for the PC).

It is of course conceivable - but I hope that all players have the opportunity to play the upcoming games. Regardless of the platform.

Best wishes

EXACTLY

Rumors and guesses

Lo

Your conclusion is certainly wrong.

It would be possible, but very unlikely. They won't make all IPs exclusive. Not in life.

Ke

😄👍 Thank you for your detailed answer and the additional information.

fu

I edited and hidden my comment because I read in AldoradoXYZ's answer, "Where did you get this info from?" without reading the quoted. Then I just read that it's not about the purchase, but about the rumor and then rewritten my comment ;-)

Ja

And why should speculation be completely nonsensical? If you are concerned with business administration and have followed a little how EPIC Games dealt with their own titles, then it is not so nonsensical.

Lo

MS already does not publish exclusively exclusively. I think it is very unlikely that this will change with the acquisitions.

Why should that be the case?

Ke

Why shouldn't they do that? 😄

Microsoft bought the studio point out of done.

The games will then be Microsoft Exclusive.

Is called Xbox + Pc.

This strengthens the Xbox Game Pass, and at the same time Microsoft makes the Xbox and Windows PCs more attractive, since the games will then no longer appear on the Nintendo Switch and Playstation.

Lo

Schreiberling's "it would be conceivable" hit you hard.

Incidentally, it is conceivable that Microsoft will completely crush the entire gaming area. It is conceivable that the purchases were purely a strategy.

Possible, but unlikely. Just because it says "conceivable" doesn't mean that it is even considered. So much is possible.

I only see that "only exclusive" and "crush the entire gaming area" would be a significant change in strategy. Why should this happen now? What do the purchases have to do with it? It's just not likely.

I'm usually not a fan of exclusive deals. Because they always meant that you either have to own multiple systems or miss a wonderful game.

Since Microsoft could not really compete with the PS4 with the One, also due to the strong exclusives on the part of Sony, I consider this step to be an ingenious deal.

If all of the following Bethesda games no longer appear for Sony or Nintendo consoles, this move is only an absolute asset to every Xbox gamer and an enormous gain over Sony.

Since Microsoft also accommodates all of the following titles in the game pass and you don't have a potent PC, this is perhaps a reason for some Playstation fans to put an Xbox next to the TV in addition to the PS5 in the future.

By the way, as an Xbox player from the very beginning, I also own a PS4 pro. Because of their exclusives.

Ma

Oh sorry, of course not the exclusivity, just the purchase of the Puplisher.

Microsoft is very poorly represented in the game market… I can't remember a real MS game that I played! You have overslept many markets and now want to use your money to catch up… Hopefully you don't interfere too much in the game development… Otherwise TES VI will be a disaster…

I don't see any advantage in this alliance! (I'm only interested in the PC!)

MS now earns with… Great?!

Lo

If I hadn't understood it that way, everything was fine.

Has the purchase already been approved by the Cartel Office? It's still being checked. Didn't find anything about it in the news (but only skimmed it).
