Zelda vs Pokemon?

I've got myself a Nintendo Switch, but I'm still looking for a really addicting game. This is where you come in.

I've never played Zelda or Pokemon, but I want to try it now. What would you recommend? Pokemon or Zelda?

And then the questions: Pokemon sword or shield? Zelda Link's Awaking or Breath of the Wild?

Clearly The Legend of Zelda breath of the wild. I'm a huge Pokémon fan, but I didn't like Pokémon Sword and Shield at all.

Immediately Zelda botw. Don't think twice about xD

It's a good game too, but believe me… Zelda Botw is.

But of course you can also buy both if you can financially. But I would get Botw and then Awakening. I actually had a lot more fun because there was a lot more to do and the world was much bigger

Zelda Switch> Pokemon Switch

Pokemon was never known to have a really good story. The fun part is collecting Pokémon and leveling the ones you think are cool. The offshoots on the Switch (Sword & Shield and Pikachu & Eevee) are very much optimized for children and rather below average compared to other Pokemon games.

Zelda is always relatively good, and Breath of the Wild exceeded all expectations. Links Awakening is a good remake but if you want a big game as your first game then definitely choose Zelda Breath of the Wild. No matter what type of game you have and what your level of knowledge of video games is: BotW is suitable for everyone without being too easy or too difficult.

If you've never played Zelda, I'd rather start with Links Awakening. It's straightforward, cute and has a sweet story. If you've played that, I recommend Breath of the wild. It's completely different and a bit depressing (my subjective opinion), but you can really play for ages and the pictures are very beautiful. I can't do much with Pokemon. I still think Mario Odyssey is really good and Lego City Undercover, which you can even play in pairs.

I already have Mario Odyssey

It's huge and has lots of puzzles and open worlds. A background story that you get to know better from time to time and many interesting characters. What more do you want?

In the end, it's a matter of taste, but I clearly think Zelda is better than Pokémon on the Switch.

Breath of the Wild and Link's Awakening are so different that you could almost think they are from different franchises.

Keep in mind that Link's Awakening is just a remake of the original on the Gameboy. In terms of scope and depth, it therefore roughly corresponds to a Gameboy game. Breath of the Wild, on the other hand, is a modern open world adventure.

Both games are great fun. Again, it is a matter of taste which one you find better. But I definitely recommend BotW.
