My Nintendo Switch is not charging. Normally, when the switch is charging or starts charging, the screen goes on briefly and shows an empty battery symbol and when it is charging there's a lightning bolt next to it, but this did not happen. Have tried to turn my switch on for hours, but the screen has not come on at all since it is empty.
What are the reasons for this, how can I identify what the cause is and how can I fix it?
So the most obvious problem would be, I think, that the charging cable is broken. Try connecting it to a USB-C phone charger cable. When it then charges you know that it is due to the cable. If nothing happens then you might have to have it checked and repaired if necessary. : / If the 2 year guarantee has not yet expired, you can simply bring it with the receipt to the shop where you bought it. They will then give your Switch to Nintendo and repair it free of charge.
But of course I hope it's just the cable.
Don't have another USB-C cable. But it would still have to work because yesterday or so it was still possible, and I also tried to connect it to the docking station when I put the switch in there, this little light at the bottom left front briefly came on, but it kept this state not with, only if the switch is in a certain position in it. If the cable didn't work, the light wouldn't have to go on in any position, would it?
I don't know that I had a guarantee, got it from one of my uncles, sometime shortly before March 3rd, 2019 (kp when exactly, think sometime february 2019) and he ordered it online, probably via amazon.
So if a light is on, the cable is definitely OK. If the switch does not charge in some positions, it is probably due to the connector on the console.
Personally, if I were you, I would go to Saturn or Mediamarkt (or other electrical retailers), describe my problem to them and see if they can help me - even if I bought my switch elsewhere. You can still have them sent in for a fee.
(The guarantee is of course stupid, it has now probably expired)
It's going to be a problem. Mediamarkt and co are all closed because of corona, at least that's what I was told.

Has taken care of itself, it just started. Once I pressed the on switch out of boredom, the switch suddenly came on. Apparently I only pressed the on switch too briefly and the reason why there were no usual signs of charging (battery and flash next to it) was that it was already sufficiently charged 😂
