LCD or touchscreen broken (Nintendo DS Lite)?

My Nintendo DS Lite has black stripes on the lower display and I want to replace it. But now I have seen that there's a touch screen module so no LCD or LCD and I'm not sure now what I should exchange.

The LCD is broken, the touchscreen is made up of two thin foils, depending on which type is Resistive or Capacitive. If the touch screen would be defective then you could ask because where it would be broken would make any input or it would only very bad to not respond.

With you, however, the LCD is defective so the "screen" in itself. Either the defective pixels are no longer driven by the LCD processor or your hardware is moderately damaged. Can eg. Due to too much pressure or pressure with spiky objects to have happened to the display.

In your case, it should suffice to swap the LCD, as far as the LCD is single, which I somehow do not believe because normal white LCD and touch screen form a unit.
