Seagate hard drive, no power via the USB cable?

I bought an external hard drive from Seagate (https://www.amazon.de/Seagate-STEA1000400-Expansion-Portable-Festplatte/dp/B00TKFEEAS/ to install games from the Wii U on it. The hard drive gets its power from the same USB plug that I plug into the Wii U, but the Wii you seems to be underpowering through the USB ports. Does anyone have any idea what I could do to get the drive up and running? Are there possibly synonymous Y-cable, for exactly my problem and if so, what are these / what should I Googlen there?
