I bought an external hard drive for my Ps4 and am currently downloading all the games on it. The Ps4 is currently in sleep mode and the USB ports are continuously supplied with power. As soon as the downloads are completed, the ports are no longer supplied with power. Now I would like to know whether the hard drive switches off automatically when I switch to sleep mode or whether I first have to pull the plug (whereby I have to disconnect beforehand via the Ps4 menu). It would be really annoying if the hard drive continuously draws power and I had to pull the plug every time. I use the Seagate expansion + 4TB
Hard drive itself (have the same version with 2tb) automatically goes off when you put the PlayStation into sleep mode, but as soon as you connect a device that you load via the USB port of the PS4 (e.g. A controller) then all USB ports go and the plate draws electricity again.
Unfortunately, I can't say whether the USB ports (and thus also the hard drive) will go out again after charging, I would have to test them overnight
It would actually be best to set this to three hours, then all ports go out after 3 hours and you would not have to worry about having to remove the hard drive each time
Okay thank you very much
So does that mean that nothing can happen if the USB ports are no longer supplied with power after 3 hours and the hard drive thus disconnects from the Ps4?
I'm assuming I've been doing this for 7-8 months and nothing has happened so far…
I believe that the hard drive is also designed for it, because it goes out when you put the Ps4 into sleep mode and that it is not so bad if it does not get any power after the 3 hours
All right thanks again
