Region Lock on Nintendo Switch Online Codes?

I'm considering a French version of Mario Maker 2 on eBay incl. 12 months online (much cheaper than Saturn, etc.).

My question: The game would work, because the switch no longer has a region lock (for games), but does that also count for the code of online membership?
