Which portable console (s) for old and new top Mario titles are right for me now?

Look for something like the Nintendo Switch, with which you have a game experience true to the controller like on the N64, you can play well on the go, and with which you can play all, especially the Toptietel by Mariokart and other Mario games. The Switch would be an option for me just because of the Mariokart 8 Deluxe, but I would also like to be able to play the older N64 Mariokart-like games like the famous Diddy Kong e.g.

For me it looks like that if you want to play a wide variety of Mario games, you don't have to buy several different portable consoles because not all devices can run all of these games.

There are always people who bring everything to the same device, but how they manage it is alien to me and why the manufacturers can't do it for everyone is alien to me too…

I think a Nintendo 64 would be cool too, but at home I only have HDMI and Displayport connection options on my monitor, which N64 didn't use at the time, and unfortunately the PC itself can't do it either.

What are your thoughts on this, did you somehow solve this problem, what did you take and why?

Are there certain suitable videos that can explain this well, or do you have any other good tips?

Mariokart will be difficult. There's only ever one game per console and older parts are almost never ported. Super Mariokart (SNES) can be played on WiiU and Switch. Mariokart 64 on the WiiU. That's pretty much it. It looks similar with other Mario spin-offs.

For the main series (i.e. The platformers), however, the Switch is almost perfect:

Mario bros
Super mario bros
Super Mario Bros: The Lost Levels
Super Mario Bros 2
Super Mario Bros 3
Super Mario World
Super mario 64
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Mario Galaxy
Super Mario 3D World (coming next year)
Super Mario Odyssey

Thanks for the detailed description.

I'll get a switch soon.

In that case I would have to buy a WiiU. It is a brazen market strategy of them. Maybe I'll do an Edain Room with Project N64, or whatever you call it, then I'll have everything on one device.

Get an Unpatched Unbanned CFW Capable Switch. But think you will be banned one way or another if you simply pack up the former N64 top titles yourself, which Nintendo does not do itself although everyone wants it. Really bold of them.

I think with the console I have to decide whether I just want to play offline with modds or online just without CFW.

The best but most expensive would be to have 2 switches, one for only offline with mods and games that you can't play online, and the other for normal use…
