Men, leisure, what and where?

A question for men in the middle / late 20s to mid / late 30s:

What do you do in your free time and where do you spend your free time outside the house?

So it's not about leisure activities for indoors like a PC, playing a playstation or other games with friends, watching films / videos or reading a book alone, but about leisure activities for which you leave the house, so where do you go and where do you spend your free time, evenings and weekends?

Wellness, short breaks, shopping, karting, shisha bar or eating out.

I'm in my early 20s, but… In my spare time, I only do sports in public, I go to my club's training. Otherwise I might go for a walk or bike.

I'm 29 and I often do that depending on the weather and people. But there's always something. I like to meet friends, some of whom I have known since primary school, or at least since my apprenticeship. But I also do a lot with my partner - concerts if what turns out to appeal to both of us, but also funfair or Christmas market or whatever, as it happens. Sometimes we also went to art exhibitions from the art association, if nothing else was there ^^ but then we thought it would be better to sit around and watch TV & the people from the art association also make an effort, as a local resident you can appreciate that by look at that and what goes into the donation box. Or a walk.

Sometimes we go to the cinema (if something comes) and on Fridays after work, when we both have Friday afternoons off we go to the city or go to a certain café. Sometimes we go out for dinner in the evening, but it is not spontaneous.

I used to be a disco goer until about 22/23 - but then there were too many immature children who only made trouble there as well as finished "Best Agers" Ü40 who wanted to show again how young they are & what they are to have to offer, and then it was no longer nice. I prefer concerts, at least you meet like-minded fans. Festivals… It depends on what it is.

Since I have a youngtimer, I like to deal with old cars, but I do not belong to the tuning community or any brand scene. I like driving old Opel and old Benz, but other cars are also good and I don't think only Benzers are good -----> but 80 percent of the scene thinks that way. At Opel they are a lot looser than at Mercedes, where it is often a showdown and I really just have fun with the old Benz, but I don't define myself and don't want to compete with other drivers. There are a couple of old Mercedes drivers that I like & we help out with spare parts or go on a tour together on Sundays, but that's spontaneous / coincidence. Sometimes I go to junkyards to remove spare parts.

Vacation trips are moderately interesting for me. I'm not from a travel family, but from very small circumstances where there were more important things than having to go out several times a year, but in the 90s that wasn't as crazy as it is today because of my very middle-class life with secondary school, education, Permanent position and lack of interest in long-distance travel etc. I also missed the connection. If I had a partner who would be interested in something like that, it would be different, but my partner also comes from a small background and vacation at her home was never important.

I'm 28 and I like going to concerts, small and big.

I'm very interested in unknown, smaller bands that appear in clubs and pubs, in my regular pub at least once a week there are bands that I have never heard of. I'm just as enthusiastic about big concerts.

Otherwise, I also like to go to the pub, play billiards and darts, go bowling, go cycling, hike in the vineyards or forests of the region.

I'm 30 now. Where do I go in my free time and what do I do there?

I and my wife ride a motorcycle. So if we feel like it we like to go on small day trips. Furthermore, we like to go to our favorite city (Koblenz) and shop there or just spend some time there. We're also often on the go for sport. Be it cycling, inline skating, swimming, hiking, Nordic walking or going to a trampoline hall. We also like to go to metal concerts or events that generally interest us.

Things that I do alone (but maybe not with others) are activities such as going to firecrackers / gunner meetings, visiting pinball clubs and RC model building

Thank you for your detailed and honest description of your leisure activities.

Have fun with your hobbies 👍

Sh

Thank you for your answer.

May I ask what kind of sport you do in the club?

Te

I'm a badminton player. But if you think about joining a club… There's an acute shortage of women in almost every competitive sport. Our club, for example, can't provide a tournament team because two women are required and we only have one who would like to.

Thank you for your answer and description of your leisure activities.

Sh

Thank you for your answer and the description of your leisure activities.

I also know clubs where smaller unknown bands appear.

May I ask what you mean by "big concerts"?

Sh

Thank you for your answer!

Glad to thank nothing!

Sh

Aha, understand. Yes, that's a thing with the percentage of women in sports clubs, you're right.

Have fun with badminton.

Te

Thank you!

I've been to The Rolling Stones, The Who, Westernhagen, Kiss, Alice Cooper, Nightwish, Joe Cocker, Udo Lindenberg, Die Toten Hosen, and many other major indoor and stadium concerts and open-air events. These are bands that don't appear in the pub around the corner.
