I want to get a wqhd 144hz monitor for the ps5, or rather this one: https://edigital.de/monitor/samsung-lc27jg50qquxen-27-wqhd-144hz-gaming-led-monitor-gebogen-p587191

But it has no g sync and free sync. Is that bad for the ps5 or does it not make a big difference.

Ja

That thing isn't even selling yet and you want to buy some screen NOW?

It's so unnecessary!

Buy a screen when you have the PS5 in your hands.

Gsyny and Freesync, is for a PC, Gysnc Nvidia Freesync amd, that means since the Playstation doesn't use either anyway, it doesn't help you

G-Sync -> for NVIDIA graphics cards

FreeSync -> originally only for AMD cards, now also for NVIDIA.

St

Roughly speaking, GSync is for Nvidia graphics cards and FreeSync is for AMD graphics cards.

Most of the FreeSync monitors also give Adaptive GSync or whatever it is called.

Then you can use GSync with FreeSync monitors.

I don't know how it works with the Ps5 but I think they use AMD graphics cards so FreeSync could work.

Until the ps5 comes out, I play on the PC with the monitor. Can only play full HD at 144hz (in most games)

Gsync and Freesync is, in short, a system that synchronizes the frames from the graphics card and the screen.

Because if the graphics card doesn't output the frames at the same time as the screen reads the frames. The screen could read half frames or something (screen tearing).

In this case, gsync is a technology from NVidia. This is licensed and all screens with it are a bit more expensive. Because manufacturers have to pay NVidia for it. Gsync works with NVidia graphics cards.

Freesync is an open standard from AMD. This is free to use for everyone. But only works with AMD graphics cards. At least I don't know any other graphics card manufacturer that implements the xD

But now it is like this:

more background is needed to complete the answer here.

The PS4 and PS5 use AMD graphics cards.
however, PlayStation always "deactivates" the Freesync function. (Or the GPUs the Playstation buys don't support that)

So my answer: Gsync and Freesync are not supported by PlayStation. And that's the only correct answer.

But to further complete the answer:

The PS5 has the HDMI 2.1 standard. This supported VRR (Variable Refresh Rate) is a technology similar to Gsync and Freesync.

But to use that you need a monitor that also supports HDMI 2.1 and where VRR can be activated. It could be turned off and there's no option to turn it on.

And so: you need a monitor that supports HDMI 2.1.

If your PC now also has a graphics card that has HDMI 2.1, that would be nicer. Only many graphics cards have no HDMI 2.1: O

So look for HDMI 2.1 and Freesync or Gsync combined (if you have a PC with NVidia or amd gpu).

if you don't have a good PC then HDMI 2.1 is enough.

Nope. Is always deactivated.

but VRR works.
