Back when I had no Wi-Fi, I made it so that I gave my Ps4 hotspot with my mobile phone. My ping was often much higher than the ping with my WLAN, both were around 50mbits in the download and 2.5mbits in the upload why is it that the ping with the router is significantly better?
The router can send information to a server faster and query it faster than mobile networks, since these are connected to the actual server via more stations than the router, which increases latency (ping).
With the router, communication can take place directly between PC / PS4 etc. With the core network.
