I have one of the rare ps3 models 90 with 60gb.
It has never been opened, therefore in its original condition.
It runs normally in idle mode and is audibly loud when playing.
Usually it is more than 13 years to change the thermal paste, but I find it too good to open it.
It looks like the thermal grease is still jumping, but is it possible after 13 years?
I leave my ps3 on for up to 1 hour almost every day so that the thermal paste (if still soft) remains soft.
I have heard that it is generally good to keep running the console or the PC so that they do not break
Is this necessary or is it just a waste of electricity?
Turning on is more about dust and the hard drive. This is exactly what the thermal paste is used for. And yes, it is quite possible after 13 years.
After 13 years you should change them
It may be that everything is dusty inside after 13 years, especially if you let it run for an hour a day
Make a decision!
Consume a lot of electricity and dust the whole inner life while stressing the contents
OR
Let stand and open before sale to exchange ONLY the WLP.
It's a good question
I myself once found an old pc in my attic with my parents (definitely 10 years old) and the WLP was almost like new.
it depends on how good the paste is.
and with the ps3 I can only say soo if you would like to have it for a long time then you would have to dust off or over and change WLP
and the question with the current no where no current flows can't break either… You stress the things yes and wear them out when they are in operation
