GTA Vice City No memory cartridges?

Is not there a way to save the game from the beginning? On the map with me no memory cartridges can be found. You can save but not save… (I bought the game from the Playstation Network Store and downloaded it to my PS3.)

No, I believe this is only possible after you have checked in at the hotel, would be after the first or second mission.
