Why is my PS4 controller blinking red?

When I was playing something on the PS4, the LED on my Dualshock kept flashing red. The actual color is light orange, but now it keeps blinking.

Is something wrong with the controller or should it be like that?

This is the countdown to the remote controlled self-destruction. Better get the part out to the garden or something quick. It will explode.
