I'm currently downloading a free game from the store. As it says it takes about 6 hours. Does the download continue even if I turn off the PS4? Or do I have to go to sleep? Because it looks like when the download is done I'll be asleep (homeschooling)

yes you have to go to sleep mode, then it continues to download in the background, not when switched off.
If you've activated it in the power settings, you can download games in sleep mode. It is disabled by default.
And when it's downloaded, the PS turns off, right?
No, it will stay in sleep mode until you turn it back on.
