I've had a PS5 for a few weeks and play on a 4K 60Hz TV from Chiq. The graphics are amazing, no question about it (although it can't use the full RGB spectrum in 4K, I heard that it hardly makes a difference).
However, I notice a few things that catch my eye and sometimes bother me personally. Unfortunately, I don't know whether this is due to the wrong picture settings (on the TV) or whether that's just the way it is? In fact, when I'm in slightly darker surroundings (e.g. Caves or houses), my entire image generally becomes a little darker. And when I'm in bright areas (e.g. Outside), generally brighter.
This means, for example, that when I stand in a cave in God of War and light shines through the ceiling, it looks as if it is foggy at this point in the cave. Or when I look through the windows of a house at Battlefield and don't see if someone is walking there because the whole thing is so bright and only gets better when I approach the window. Or I can't see from the outside that an opponent is sitting in the house because it's so dark for me until I go inside.
Have already looked through all sorts of articles with tips on TV picture setting or experimented with them myself. But everything did not help. Is my TV just too bad? Did I set something wrong? Or is that just the case with these games?
Your first problem is adjusting the contrast to the picture in many games as a fade effect, which simulates the effect if you would go from a bright to a dark environment (and your eyes get used to it). But if that is not always the way you want it to be, your television will probably have an auto-contrast or auto-brightness - such automatic image enhancements should generally be switched off - that already has a very limited user field.
