I'm currently looking for a TV and have already shortlisted 3 TVs, but I'm still undecided which one it should be in the end. You are showered with product properties and technical data…
It is the Q80R from Samsung, then the XG9505 from Sony and finally the SM9100 from LG.
For me it is important that the TV is 55 inches, has a very good picture quality and the most important thing is that it is prepared for the future. I want to buy the new generation of consoles in the future (I don't know yet whether it will be a PlayStation 5 or an XBOX Series X) and this should just harmonize with the technical aspects of the TV so that I don't have to compromise there.
At the moment I only want to watch regular TV (via the freenet TV CI + module) and watch a few films now and then via Netflix / Amazon Prime Video.
My room is relatively bright, but I also want to spend my time in front of the television in the dark in the evening. So it should be able to reproduce the image well both in a bright room and in the dark.
My price budget is a maximum of 1000 euro. However, if in the end it was supposed to be the Q80R from Samsung, I would still pay the price for it - this is currently the most expensive TV of the three.
I thank you in advance for your help and advice and wish you happy holidays. Stay healthy and take care of yourself!
For high picture quality in dark rooms, I can only advise against the LG. It has miserable contrasts due to its IPS panel.
With the other two, the decision is difficult. Image quality is excellent with both, with the Q80R leading the way in most areas. The software is also more sophisticated at Samsung. In return, Samsung appears to be very penetrating advertising, which would be very daunting for me.
The Q80R supports HDMI 2.1, but so far it's all pretty vague, you don't know which https://www.4kfilme.de/nicht-jeder-fernseher-hdmi-2-1-unterstuetzt-gleiche-features/ are supported exactly. The really interesting thing is the 4K @ 120Hz support, without which you can take an HDMI 2.0 device in my opinion. And I have no information whether the Q80R offers that at all.
