Can I cut the USB cable on this headset?

I recently got a headset for my ps4 and at the end of the cable is a splitter, so you have both an aux and a usb connection. Since I only plug the aux connection into my controller, the short usb end piece just dangles around and is annoying. Could I just cut off the usb end piece without the headset giving up its ghost?
