Wanted to get me an SSD for the ps4. Not a big one (only 150GB for the system, the rest is already running on an external HDD).
Reason: the ps4 is ars * h slow, booting up, everything. I won't be able to accelerate game loading times with it, nor is it my goal. Only the system should run on the SSd. I heard that it should bring great advantages, especially when booting.
Is it worth it (or rather, is it useful)? The SSD costs 20 euro, so it wouldn't be a big loss if there were problems.
An SSD is significantly faster. As an HDD.
You don't need to know more at first, because the rest is irrelevant for the result.
Instead of turning it all the way down, you can simply switch it to stand-by mode, so it consumes almost no electricity overnight, but it is ready for use again sooner the next day.
Think the SSD is not that important for the system. For the games, however, it can really be a charging advantage.
The HDD is now almost 5 years old and has seen a lot. And since the games are all on an external HDD anyway, there can be advantages. (So install the SSD)
No, an SSD does nothing in a PS4. It won't cause problems, but it won't be any faster.
20 euro for an SSD is already very cheap, is it a good SSD or some cheap junk?
The SSD is just small, but I don't know if I should replace my 1TB HDD for it. The games are all on an external HDD, so I wanted to ask if it would help (boot up faster, etc.)
Must be very small, definitely around 250GB or maybe even only 128GB.
The start is about 5 seconds shorter, not a good exchange for a 1TB HDD in my opinion. With games there's hardly any difference when it comes to loading times.
Well then. Then the 1TB HDD can at least be useful for ColdWar, which is coming out soon.
By the way:
I heard that it should bring great advantages, especially when booting.
This is only the case for computers, where the boot time and the general system are significantly faster with an SSD.
A PS4 just can't handle an SSD, to put it simply, only the PS5 can do it and, according to current information, even better than the PC.
In a pinch, you can build the SSD in a PC or in a laptop. They benefit very well from it.
Of course, the speed difference is enormous.
