Switch off memory expansion in front of the console?

I bought a 3 TB expansion for my PS4 and I'm not sure if I should separate the memory expansion before I turn off the PS4 or if it doesn't matter. Is it healthier for the hard drive if I separate it beforehand?

(Hard drive brand is Seagate if that is important)

The hard drive doesn't care, it goes out when you turn off the PS4.
