Good lunchtime or good evening, depending on when you read this question 😃, I'm thinking of selling my Playstation 4 Pro in order to be able to buy the Playstation 5 Standard Edition afterwards. I will be able to play 99% PS4 games on it. So my question is, is it worth selling the Ps4 Pro?
I don't think anyone can make the decision for you. You have already answered the question of whether it makes sense. The PS5 is said to be the first Playstation to be officially backwards compatible with PS4 titles and not like the PS4, where only the first model series was backwards compatible…
The question is more of a personal one: "Do I want to keep this Playstation 4 for irrational reasons or as a substitute in the worst-case scenario or which scenario only applies to me?"
In my personal experience, it makes no sense to sell old consoles because they experience a kind of drop in prices after the new generation is released. Maybe you regret selling one of your old consoles after 10 years just like I did… (for me it was still the 16 bit era ^^).
I would probably keep them if I could financially raise the PS5 without selling the old ones.

if you didn't pre-order a PS5 weeks ago, you won't get one this year either. The second wave of pre-orderers will probably not get their PS5 until January, February and then you might be lucky to find one in the store from March.
So first wait to sell the PS4 until you can be sure of getting a PS5.
