I have a question and it is true that Dolby Atmos can only be received via an hdmi cable and if so do I have to put my player (playstation) into the Av receiver or can I stay on TV?
Dolby Atmos is only transmitted over digital connections, as HDMI Toslink or Coaxial Digital.
You can stay on the TV when it is digitally connected to the AV receiver.
Toslink and coax Can't transmit Atmos, as codecs such as True HD or Dolby Digital + can't be transmitted over them. This is only possible via HDMI.
For optimal compatibility, you should move from the Playstation to the AVR and then to the TV. All TVs can route the sound back to an AVR via ARC, but only a few have the option to forward Atmos via eARC.
