Twitch chat delay?

I have the problem with Twitch that when I watch a Twitch stream I always have a delay of 5-10 seconds. So e.g. The viewers write something in the chat or react to something that doesn't happen to me until 5-10 seconds later

Why is that?

You mean what happened to you 5-10 seconds earlier ^^

Twitch has a standard delay of approx. 10 seconds. If the internet is worse, it can vary.
