How do I set controller settings in Clustertruck?

I have a problem with the game "Clustertruck". I'm playing the game on a Macbook which means that the software is Mac OS / X, which shouldn't be a problem for the game.

My problem is that when I try to play with the controller, it doesn't work. I can't do that in the game settings either. To describe the problem more precisely, I didn't "bind" the controller (I don't know how to use this word normally if you don't know what it means, please google it).

If you then click on "Play Clustertruck" on Steam, a small window appears. Once resolution and once input. With input you can adjust the settings for the controller, but this is more complicated than expected.

I've already managed to go in every direction with the Xbox one controller, but I haven't managed to look around or to be able to select something in the main menu with the controller, e.g. Pressing "Play" is only possible with the mouse.

I've been looking for a solution for several days but unfortunately I can't find any, I hope someone can help me.
