Unfortunately again a question about PC 😅
I'm looking for a controller to gamble on Steam. There's the Steam Controller from Valve and of course PS4 and XBOX controllers. All can be connected to the PC.
Unfortunately, I can't find any specific information as to whether I need this Steam Link device to connect an XBOX One S or Steam Controller to the PC and thus gamble on Steam, or not?
When it comes to compatability with the games, Valve's device is of course the top drawer. But I would prefer an XBOX One S controller, due to the ergonomics.
So steam has relatively little to do with it depends on the games on whether they support exactly these controllers because I had never had problems with steam games with my ps4 controller
I just read in every FAQ, every article description blabla controller connect with Steam Link. That's my Steam related question
Close no worries with a normal Ps4 controller I've played every COD so far without any problems.
I have been using Xbox 360 controllers for years. The PC version, on the USB port of the PC. How to operate your Xbox One Controller on the PC you have to do your own research.
Not even at Party Hard? There were some problems with PS4 controllers.
To connect to the PC, I have no problem, only this accessory raises me questions 😅
This Valve Steam Controller is just an attempt to do something different.
They had to build their own system ("Steam Box", etc.), which had an Ubuntu Linux as a substructure. But then the games would have to be programmed and optimized for Linux. The project failed.
And on the PC you can use any controller that you can connect.
The Steam controller is just one of many. And these must then each be supported, or manually set up.
This Steam controller offers you no advantages if the game does not support its special features. This applies to every controller with individual special functions, such as a built-in touchpad, position control, or similar.
Widely used is the XBox 360 controller from Microsoft. This is directly recognized by most PC games and assigned functions with good sense.
But also the other XBox controllers are usable, as drivers are very likely to exist as well.

And you do not play "on" Steam.
Steam will provide you with a game launcher to play the games you have purchased on Steam.
The games run locally on your computer and the Internet connection is used for copy protection, update options and multiplayer.
Although it's a "cloud gaming" system being developed by Steam, where games are streamed over the Internet, that's still "far" in the future.
Which additional device?
Possibly. This "Steam Link", with which you can connect the PC to a HDMI-enabled TV.

This is just an extension, in which the screen content and the multi-channel sound is converted into a video stream and in "real-time" via Lan, or WLan is streamed into this box. From there it goes via HDMI to the TV.
And you can connect any controller to these USB ports. This works like a standard USB hub.
The steam client / game launcher running on the PC then takes over the transfer, if it is activated there.
Some SmartTVs even include an app that makes this "Steam Link" obsolete. Since the video stream from the PC via the LAN / WLan connection is sent directly to the SmartTV and processed by this app.
Ahh great, thanks for the explanation 👍
As I said, I found only information about connecting the controller with the Steam Link device. But since my PC anyway s.TV is synonymous anyway irrelevant
I just found the following video:
It explains in detail how to get this streaming with an Amazon FireTV.
It is only an Android substructure needed. So it should work just like other Android devices. Likewise with the Nvidia-Shield.
And funnily, this streaming even seems to be possible (via Wi-Fi) to an Android smartphone, or Android tablet.
I still have a first generation FireTV here. I will definitely give it a try. Let's see what's possible with my (outdated) PC.
