If only because you are not limited to gaming and can also use the service for other purposes. My main PC would not make any sense to gamble in terms of price / performance (3950X + 2070S), but for me it is more of a workstation that I have upgraded a graphics card to be able to gamble. So I can use and play it wisely. A GT 1030 would have been enough to display the picture, so I basically only spent about 400-500 euro for the gaming PC. Slightly more expensive than a PS4 but with worlds better performance.

There's no answer, it always depends on what you want to do.
It's just a perfect all-rounder that can be used and personalized for any purpose, where you can usually only gamble on a console and see some multimedia. But a PC is more expensive, but you can always upgrade.
