Xbox 360 controller

So I have the following problem: I have an xbox 360 controller that is connected with a cable and the xbox (my PC too) does not recognize this controller, so when I plug the cable in, it lights up very briefly and then it stops, what can I do do there?

Just buy a new one because the controller is broken because I also have one that works normally
