Microphone rustles and there's no sound in my voice?

I've upgraded my PC and my headset is only extremely loud. It's neither the headset nor the mainboard. I've even exchanged the mainboard. And the headset works normally on the Xbox. Does anyone know why that is?

4-pin connector and two connections on the mainboard, separate for microphone and headphones? Then Y-adapter.
