Xbox and hard drive?

My question is this:

I have a hard drive and there are lots of valuable games inside. The games are also stored in my Xbox, but not downloaded, I play on the hard drive.

I wonder what would happen if the hard drive broke with all the games stored inside.

Can you no longer play the games afterwards and have them repaired or does it still work afterwards?

It is not worth having the hard drive repaired because it is far too expensive. If it breaks you can of course no longer use it.

However, your purchases are saved and you can re-download everything from my games and apps. Also on a new hard drive.
