I have the following problem: Whenever I download something on the PC (whether on Steam or anywhere else) and my brother is playing, he always gets a 100 ping or higher. But if I install something in my browser, for example, it doesn't happen, and it doesn't happen either when I download something from my Xbox.
My question is now whether you can set something so that your ping does not go up during this time.
You can check your router settings to see if something needs to be prioritized. Or maybe you can throttle your own download speed (certainly works with any download manager).
If you have a potent router (e.g. One that is not from A1 is XD), then you can set priorities in the router, as it usually divides its capacities either equally or according to very stupid criteria.
If you don't know how to get into the router:
in the CMD the following command: ipconfig
Copy the address under "Standard Gateway"
You enter it in the browser
Then you will be asked for a password, which is usually written somewhere on the router.
The interfaces of the routers are very different so you just have to look around.
Alternatively, you can simply throttle the download.
(most game launcher and browser have the function)
I have the Unitymedia Connect Box do you have any idea where I can adjust something?

So that our questioner might find it better, these settings are called QoS (Quality of Service). I have to admit that the way to the router address is a bit cumbersome, but everyone likes it.
First enter the address of the router in the browser and see where you end up
I've already registered, I had to go in there before
I've just scanned the instructions for your box / router and unfortunately the device doesn't seem to offer any QoS.
But you can limit your bandwidth yourself, then the problem would also be solved. So you do a speed test and limit your bandwidth to 85% of the download bandwidth. NetLimiter would be the easiest way to go.
Has never had anything to do with a router but since you probably got it from the provider, it won't offer you many settings. But you can also do it relatively easily with software like Netlimiter if it only affects 3 devices or so just install it on all of them. The program probably has the settings you are looking for.
No, unfortunately I don't know. Have a Fritzbox
Thanks
