Which desktop graphics card can you compare with the Xbox Series X / PS5?
Comparing the graphics performance alone is difficult. But something like this could be an AMD RX 5700 XT for the XSX with 12 TFLOPS with correspondingly powerful hardware in the background. In terms of graphics performance, it would probably be a Geforce RTX 2080 Super.
Xbox Series X could be compared to an RTX 2080 SUPER.
The Playstation with an RX5700XT or an RTX2060 Super
The Xbox Series X graphics unit is comparable to an RTX2080 Super.
The Playstation 5 graphics unit is comparable to an RTX2060 Super.
A somewhat slimmed-down and yet slightly revised RX5700XT should be installed, which has around 30% less computing power than the RTX2080 Super.
The Playstation 5 should be viewed more as a 1080p console, as the graphics unit is actually only intended for that. If you want 4K, you should use the Xbox Series X.
So is the technology of the consoles "out of date" again?

A lot of time passes from development to mass production and when it is ready for series production, the successor is already in development. For example the Iphone: when it appears at the end of the year, next year's model will be almost finished. Console gamers have the advantage that the hardware fully supports it until the end of its life cycle and is sufficient because the software is only designed for one system and not for hundreds of systems, as is the case with PC gamers. Technology is always advancing and in many industries we have now reached an annual rhythm when it comes to new technology.

For a total price of 500 euro, you can't expect graphics that can compete with PCs over a thousand euro. It's not out of date just a different price range and type of equipment. A console will run well for at least 7 years
