Play Red Dead Redemption 1 or 2 first?

Got Red Dead 2 for Xbox and Read Dead 1 for my PC. I heard that RDR2 is the history, but it came out later. I started Red Dead Redemption 2 a bit. Should I play RDR1 first?

I would recommend playing the second part first, so the first one makes a lot more sense afterwards

The second part actually takes place beforehand. You can play the first one first, but you definitely don't get an advantage.

So better the second one first

Basically you usually start with the first part, but at RDR it makes more sense to start with the second part.
