I remember until about 4 years ago I played a lot on the Xbox 360 and I really had a lot of games (> 30). That was not a problem and the 200GB storage space was far from full. Now 500GB of storage space on the PS4 is completely full with not even 10 games? I just do not understand.
Well, the graphics did not stay the same. It evolved over time, and more content is included. All it needs is more memory, so a PS4 game is about 40-70GB in size. The Xbox 360 games are a maximum of 8.5GB, with some exceptions 16GB.
Compare apples to pears… Well, I do not know.
But new consoles should also be able to evolve or at least be able to keep up with the older console in every area and not simply go backwards.
This is in no way a step backwards, but progress. You just use the possibilities to have more memory. Otherwise you would not have been able to develop a game like Marvel's Spider-Man. We would have stayed with Rocket League.
I think it's a step backwards if I can only play 10 instead of over 60 games without having to start from the beginning.
Here is: quality over quantity.
There are only drawbacks in the area of quantity, the old consoles could hold massively top titles of their time in the memory.
And yes, of course, the games continue to evolve, I'm aware of that. However, where I needed 8GB memory for the GTA V on the Xbox 360, I need 5 or 6 times for a slightly lofty version with 2.3 new features.
That's right, yes. But as a minor correction: GTA V needed 16GB. And the quality can't always be compared with the current consoles. As an example, take Forza. Forza Horizon 3 could never have existed on the XBox 360. Not in these dimensions with the mass of vehicles and the big game card.
Mainly because of the graphics and the content. Take Red Dead Redemption 2, the game is 100GB in size. An open world game with a lot of content has to be stable, which is not possible from a CD alone. The Xbox 360 games had another way to use a lot of content without having to install the games. However, there was one or the other game that had to be installed on the 360, so you could gamble it. It's all about the stability of the game. If RDR2 were to run only on CD, there would probably be extreme stuttering or other problems after some playing time.
Minecraft, on the other hand, is about 1GB in size, lots of content and yet so small, it just saved on the graphics.
The biggest thing about the games is really graphics and content, the videos in between, soundtracks and much more. All this has to be done properly, so many games have to be installed.
It is on one side a step backwards, but a necessary, because just the games are simply consuming.
