I always notice when I download updates with my xbox (via cable) that download them with 60 to 80 mbits, while my PC is 6 to 7 mbits far below. I'm not particularly familiar with it, so I wonder where the difference comes from and whether the same can also be reached on the PC.
It always depends on how well the download server is connected to the Internet, you can have a 10 GBit line, but if the server from which you are downloading has a bad connection, it does not help you much either. Think the servers from which the XBox downloads are simply faster than those from which you download something to the PC.
Is the PC also screwed to the router via a cable?
Because you have no download restrictions on your XBOX, which is the case with programs such as Steam or Uplay on the PC is very strong. On Steam it is usually 15 mb and on Uplay I think 20 or 30, with your XBOX you do all of this via your internet, so you usually have full power there
Both over LAN? Most routers have one or two high-performance ports, the other ports are correspondingly slower.
It could of course also be because e.g. Steam and almost all other launcher do not specify the download in Mbits, but rather MB / s (i.e. MegaByte per second). Since a byte contains eight bits, the speed is correspondingly higher.
