With the Xbox Series X coming soon, I'm looking for a decent gaming monitor. Do monitors above 75Hz make sense, for example a 144? Does something start to jerk or does it run smoothly? Lg Mario
Only very few games will support 120 or 144 Hz and thus FPS. The new Dirt or Ori does, however.
The majority of games are more likely to be developed towards a stable 60 at 4k resolution.
Whether a game runs smoothly does not depend on the monitor, but rather on the developer. However, I'm not worried about the new consoles because on the previous generation 30 was the norm and 60 the exception. Now 60 will be the norm and 120 or 144 the exception.
A 144 Hz monitor therefore has no problem displaying lower FPS.
Before you buy, however, to get 144hz in connection with 4k resolution, the monitor needs an HDMI 2.1 connection. At lower resolutions, however, not because the data throughput is lower.
Replace 144Hz with 120.
Sorry my mistake.
