Why am I not hearing anything through the headphones?

I have an Xbox one and want to connect my headphones. I don't hear anything through this. They are the normal JBL headphones. I had this before and used it until it broke. I could hear everything, but not with the new ones. Why is that? What can I do?

Just get an adapter cable

Connect other headphones if you hear something through these headphones, the Jbl headphones are very likely broken, but if you don't hear anything through these headphones either it is due to the settings or the aux connector on your controller is broken.

I hear something through other jbl headphones. The new ones are not broken because they go on cell phones.
