Problems with Astroneer Server?

I rented an Astroneer server on nitrado. I think of it myself. But not my friend. He plays on the XBox (with live gold) and I on steam. Crossplay should actually be possible. Can anyone tell me why we can't play together

official, dedicated and non-dedicated servers

are there possibly such setting options with your friend?
