What are the advantages of the Xbox 360 E?
The advantages are that the E is a little quieter than the S, but technically they are the same.
I add that it has a button instead of a touch sensor, has the design of the 2013 Xbox One and is less fragile than the 360 Slim. For example, the RDOD (Red DOT of Death) appears less frequently. (RDOD is different from the RROD (Red Ring of Death) which only signals overheating and forced cooling. An RROD means that the console is out.)
That with the button and the Xbox One design are not advantages (a matter of taste). Also, the likelihood that the S and the E could get the RDoD is the same. I think you mean the older models (Elite, Arcade, …).
The button is definitely a (possible) improvement - see a fly flicking on the power button of the 360 S, or accidentally hit it? In my view, the button is an improvement. But yes, the design is not really an improvement, but it looks chic (in my opinion) the RDOD is true. I have often read reports where it was said that the RDOD problem was decreasing.
