I wanted to ask what the best option is to play games like Fortnite, Minecraft and the like. Mobile to play:
On the Nintendo Switch (in handheld mode), or on a high-end smartphone with a controller?
Just write me your opinion about it!
Here are some food for thought:
Arguments for the switch:
Games are optimally tailored to the hardware
There's a bigger and better variety of games
Games are usually more detailed and run more smoothly
The switch has an active air cooling
Arguments for the smartphone:
More efficient
Better and bigger display (120hz, OLED, WQHD + with HDR etc.)
Possibly Better controller
Playing online is free
You have all the other tools in one device at the same time (phone and messaging, social media, camera, etc.)
You can use a SIM and use 5G mobile internet
Not much is happening there. If you were to play on a different platform then you will notice how bad both are (for the mentioned titles).
The switch has a lot more GPU performance
120hz doesn't work with Fortnite anyway, max 90hz and that only on OnePlus devices for now
Only max. 30 FPS!
What other platform? I'm referring to mobile gaming…
Yes, that's a software limitation, especially since the game looks much better on the switch
Laptop.
Well on the switch it is probably hardware limited. The Tegra is now not the gaming wonder. On PC you get 240+ fps, then it wouldn't be software limited.
Oh, if you mean software limited because of the switch OS then of course that's true.
Well, I would never use a laptop for gaming on the go, just because of the form factor! I would much rather have a portable handheld in my hand…
The Tegra should have significantly more GPU power than the Snapdragons
How much is possible with the GPU you can see again and again in the Apple X chips
Should be like this.
Then I would recommend the switch.
Weis do you mean with "software limited because of the switch OS"?
Well, Nintendo has probably implemented a frame lock in some games, you described it.
Or. With all games. Either 60 or 30fps.
In the dock, however, 60fps should be possible at most
I see. And why are they doing that? Would 60 FPS then theoretically be possible on the switch as on the smartphone?
That can be good, don't have a switch.
Probably because the battery can't perform well
The battery?!
Yes, it only has a limited performance
Oh, now I thought that it could only be due to the CPU or GPU🤷♂️
It has a lot of power, but it also needs electricity and cooling
So in my opinion, you will get the better quality games on the Switch. Grade Nintendo's own franchises like Zelda, Mario, Bayonetta or Super Smash Bros are not available anywhere else, and they look really good too. The versatility that you can even play on TV (believe me, you'll want to do that at some point) is added to the switch. Playing with friends is of course really fun!
For such multi-platform games, it doesn't really matter what you take. Since you usually have a smartphone anyway, why not just do both? Personally, I wouldn't buy a high-end smartphone just to be able to play video games on it in the end. As a side effect, that's a good thing.
Personally, I don't want to miss out on the exclusives that a Nintendo console has.
There are also 12 inch laptops that are great too
With software like nvida geeforce now or other cloud streams you can gamble with the best possible performance and since it looks like you only want to play online anyway, a not extremely good cell phone with z. B nvidia geeforce now and a good controller most of all, if you just have to be completely mobile. Want a good sim with a relatively high volume of data
Not true, there are worlds in between
